If a dog was the teacher you would learn stuff like:
When loved ones come home, always run to greet them.
Allow the experience of fresh air and the wind in your face to be pure a joy.
When it’s in your best interest, practice obedience.
Take naps.
Stretch before rising.
Run, romp, and play daily.
Thrive on attention and let people touch you.
Avoid biting when a simple growl will do.
On warm days, stop to lie on your back on the grass.
On hot days, drink lots of water and lie under a shady tree.
When you’re happy, dance around and wag your entire body.
No matter how often you’re scolded, don’t buy into the guilt thing and
pout…run right back and make friends.
Delight in the simple joy of a long walk.
Eat with gusto and enthusiasm. Stop when you have had enough.
Be Loyal. Never pretend to be something you’re not.
When someone is having a bad day, be silent, sit close by and nuzzle them gently.

Starting Fresh!

We are beginning a new semester with lots of new ideas and fresh hope for our students.
There were several students who have moved on to high school and some that have successfully achieved midyear promotions. Congratulations on your hard work and do your very best each day in your new academic environment.

Time Flies

The first nine week grading period has come and gone. Wow, time flies! I am extremely proud of A. Ligas, a student, who worked hard and made the honor roll. His accomplishment earned him a lunch out at a restaurant of his choice and what a fun time it was.

Looking forward to a new marking period I can only hope that more students will join him, make the honor roll and have lunch out in January. Good Luck Ladies and Gentlemen. Hard work is always worth the effort!

Changing our Philosophy

Recognizing that elections are coming and our Nation’s leadership is going to change, it reminds me of the phrase “All men are created equal”. As an educator, we are also reminded that, all men are created equal but we are all individuals.

I have been witness to wonderful teaching and learning here are Bridges. Students are recognizing their differences as well as their strengths. Teachers and Students I commend the effort you put into each day and thank you for all you do!

A New Day!

What an exciting time summer is. I am looking forward to the cooler days of fall and fresh faces of students as they enter the halls of Bridges again. Many students I remember from when they were younger at Morhead Primary or Smyrna ELementary or even Newport Elementary. I am very excited to see you all again and work with you towards success. As we all, teachers, strudents and parents, prepare to begin school again let’s focus on the heart of Bridges which is working together for the students.

As we embarq on a new year let’s remember what Charles Swindoll said, “Words can not adequately convey the incredible impact of our attitudes toward life. The longer I live the more convinced I become that life is 10% what happens to us and 90% how we react to it.”
